I did know that Kreayshawn was getting heat for using the n-word and that she said people were mistaking V-Nasty’s words as hers. I didn’t know that she had tweeted stuff that she went back and deleted. But that does at least indicate some remorse, and I know I have read her own words saying she wouldn’t want to do racist actions. So she’s at least making a genuine effort, IMO. Whereas Tyler the Creator is unapologetically jerktastic, but at least you can make the argument that he’s playing a character and there’s some kind of artistic merit behind it.
Now Chris Brown? Is a spoiled, entitled brat who actually hurt a real person and hasn’t done anything that indicates to me that he feels actual remorse for anything besides being caught.
There was a lot of talk about Michael Vick on twitter yesterday (I guess he got a big contract?) which had me thinking along similar lines as all this; the whole ‘what if Vick were White’ thing…Would I subconsciously find someone who abused animals less distasteful if he hadn’t been a black athlete? I sure as hell would like to think not! But I’m finding that it’s a worthwhile thing to examine, and I agree that it’s equally worth examining with the whole Kreayshawn phenomenon.
