‘Kitten with a Whip’ - 1964 film poster starring Ann-Margret and John Forsythe

I saw this movie for the first time recently, via MST3K, and since then Ann-Margret has moved to the top of my 60’s Fashion Icons list. Also recently moving up the list: Claudia Cardinale.

Plus Size alternatives for Banana Republic’s 2013 Mad Men Collection

I was looking at eShakti and I noticed they had a lot of available-in-plus-size alternatives to the ’60s mod style of the Banana Republic 2013 Mad Men collection. So I fired up Polylvore and made a little set. Anything that’s not from the Mad Men collection is available in plus sizes:

Now that my first online spectacles order has been successful I’m ready to pick up a new set of sunnies, this time from Zenni Optical. I’ve been considering a few options but after a friend posted an ode to the lovely Wendy Pfeffercorn I was encouraged to pull the trigger on a particularly retro pair. I think they’re a little Kubrick’s Lolita by way of Alicia Silverstone in The Crush, wouldn’t you say?

I’ll try to post some pics and review both new pairs once they’re here B-)

Cheers!

Cheers!

The traffic getting to the theater was really bad and so our seats were too, but tonight I got to see Carl Reiner and Dick Van Dyke introduce their film The Comic from 1969. And it was pretty damn magical…Just hearing Dick Van Dyke’s voice fill the room was enough for me to have a real moment. The movie was excellent, too.

Elizabeth Taylor in a promotional shot for Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf? (1966)

I AM THE EARTH MOTHER AND YOU ARE ALL FLOPS

I’ve had a hankering to watch an old classic tonight (I was considering Casablanca) but this just prompted me to find a streaming copy of this to watch for the first time. Elizabeth Taylor is pointedly eating a piece of cold chicken and is already KILLING it.
